I worked with the Head of Design at Starry to redesign the new customer workflow. With Starry as a startup and a new internet service provider (ISP), they needed to capture all growth opportunities.

Research

I conducted competitive research on other ISP account creation workflows. Starry wanted to capture as many emails and addresses in the onboarding process as possible. Even if Starry didn’t provide service at the customer’s address, the data would help their plans to expand to different locations as they grow.

User flow for new customer journey

Plan

I mapped a user flow based on the availability of Starry at the customer’s address. Capitalizing on the excitement of being a part of a new internet movement, the flow highlighted the installation and billing setup to complete the transaction.

Execute

We worked with Starry’s web team to bring the new account creation flow live, producing more robust sign-ups, even if Starry was unavailable currently. This project helped build a location-based dataset for the Starry team and increased new account creation by removing the need for multiple customer interactions—streamlining the internal operations of a growing startup.
